I bet you think your title is really creative. It gets across the EXACT feeling you want readers to have while reading it, right?

How many words is it?

Go count.

If it’s got three or more words in it, it WILL be shortened by whomever is reading it. That’s the facts of life. And it’s especially true if it has the word “the” in it.

“The (Adjective) (Noun)” will always lose the “the” when being referred to.

Anything with four or more words will probably end up an acronym, or one word from it may be chosen to represent it if recognizable and distinct enough. For example, “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner” can be referred to as simply “Bree” if the conversation has to do with it. “Lord of the Rings” becomes “LotR.” “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” becomes “Azkaban.”

Does your title become “POO” when shortened? Think carefully. Choose carefully.
