A common complaint from would-be writers is that they just don’t have the time. They’re too busy. They have work. They have school. They have Friday-night Magic: The Gathering tourneys. They always have something.
The thing about being a writer is that all you have to do is write.
You don’t have to get published. You can be a writer AND an astronomer or whatever job you have.
Even if all you do is write for ten minutes a day or even a week, you are a writer.
You can’t keep saying you’re too busy when you surely can wake up ten minutes early and make a character, write a scene, do something.
You don’t have to write a novel. You don’t have to write anything that people tell you to write. If you like writing scenes from plays, then do it.
There is always time to write. You just have to make it.
