Writing is the art of lying.
It is the art of lying so well that your readers don’t know what is true and what is false.
If you make your characters three-dimensional enough, then they will consider the possibility that they were based on someone real.
You must lie so fantastically that your readers are enraptured. But lie so subtly that they will question the actual truth.
Convince me of something I know not to be true.
Make me believe in your characters, in your world.
Lie to me so beautifully that I will want to meet the friends you must have based your characters off.
Tell me something wrong about something you don’t know and make me believe that it’s the truth.
I want to hear a lie so wonderful that it rolls around on my tongue and circles my brain all night long.
Writing can be anything you want it to be. So why not tell me something I want to believe in?
