“Learn the rules like a pro so you can break them like an artist.” – Pablo Picasso
Our good friend Pablo is right, you know.
You can’t run freely with your work until you know the boundaries that have been set–you need to know what they are so you can break through them.
Push past the overused and tired into the new and creative.
Learn punctuation so you can press through it into new formats.
Learn novel structure so you can find new ways to convey what you really mean.
And so on.
There is so much you can do once you begin to learn.
You are a novice right now–an amateur. So learn until you know it better than the layout of your own home. Become the master of the materials you work with.
And then? Keep on learning.
The moment you stop learning is the moment you die as an artist.
Pick up your feet and start doing some research. Your work will be there when you get done.
