I think your description of counseling as “an hour long conversation” is fairly spot on; the importance of being able to outline your thoughts out loud to someone else who you don’t know is not often appreciated. That said, it did not work for me, as I cannot talk to anyone. But for most people, I’d say it’d work very well. That’s my position. But what do I know?

Thanks! I’m glad it felt accurate for you. That sucks. :/ But everybody is different, and I hope you find the help you need. 🙂 Thank you for the feedback and for sharing your experience with us!

Hello, Im currently writing a story, and in a certain chapter the character goes to a counselor to try and ease his anger issues and depression. But I have never been to a counselor therefore I dont know how to describe it. Would you be willing to help?

Sure! There are a lot of websites about counseling and whatnot, but there’s really nothing like actually going in person. You’re in luck–I actually went to a counselor from late 2011 until May this year, so I have plenty of… Read moreHello, Im currently writing a story, and in a certain chapter the character goes to a counselor to try and ease his anger issues and depression. how do I use great vocab in my story and show rather than tell? Any tips?

The best thing you can do is to expand your adverbs. There’s a reason why so many “big name” authors hate adverbs. Take a look: He sat sadly in the corner. Sounds descriptive, right? But how do you describe “sadly”? And… Read morehow do I use great vocab in my story and show rather than tell? Any tips?
