I think the most important thing is to get masterposts–a bunch of core, essential things that most writers should read–and original content.
I get way more followers when I answer questions and post prompts than when I reblog other people’s stuff.
This isn’t to say you shouldn’t reblog–in fact, I encourage it–but a good way to establish yourself is to present ideas that other people haven’t or in a way that other people haven’t done so. Show your possible readers whatever it is that you feel you can provide for them.
And you should reblog stuff–it helps you connect with other writers in the community, and if a bigger blog sees something of yours and posts it, then you have a chance of reaching more people 🙂 Best of luck!
