Rapid Prompt

sombodys-short-story:

Embroidered hearts.

With every word he spoke his needle danced across my soul. He was navy blue, and he passed his thread over the reds, and greens and lighter blues of people before him. Day by day he embroidered my heart with his own design.

Something I’ve been wanting to do for a while is “Follower Fridays.” On Fridays, I’d like to answer questions and/or feature people’s responses to my writing prompts (as well as some stuff that was sent to me by friends).

I am horribly, horribly behind on both of those things, so it’s a bit of a daunting task at the moment.

Starting with a really short one just to get my toes in the water. I’ll try to attend to my backlog soon. Depression, take a hike.

Anyway, I thought this was an interesting response! In the past, I used a site where all writing prompts were for 10 minutes of writing. So it’s sometimes jarring for me to see short responses to this.

Regardless, I’m a major sucker for lots of language relating to color. There’s something very tangible about this piece, but it also serves as a nice metaphor. Well done!

Also, the word of the day is “crackle,” because I said so.
