Blacknificent…Impressively dripping in black beauty, elaborately infused with melanin, extravagantly bathed in chocolate. It’s black history month ya’ll must’ve of thought i forgot it. I wanna say thank you to my mother, father, and teachers that really taught it. And fuck you to the people that think they thought it. We were the ones that planted and plotted, schemed and thought it. We repented against massa’s whip. Back then no one really had our backs, but Harriet Tubman did. She kept that revolver and made sure no of us would run back to that slavery shit. They put us in chains and swear that stopped us from having brains. We moved forward, we really did. Just for people to tell us we weren’t worth it. But they didn’t know for certain, that we’d rise up like a phoenix from our ashes with our Black Panther tactics. We’re really a culture of bag ladies, carrying each other on our backs. But we prevail at EVERYTHING and you need to applaud that. We lead marches and revolts just to let everyone know our blackness doesn’t holt. Now we rule things you never would’ve thought. Presidency, First Lady, billboard charts. We rule music, we rule fashion, we rule law, we rule tv shows, we rule radio shows, we rule makeup, we rule movies. EVERYTHING. Before being a girl I was taught to be BLACK. And how to live in this nation with that. I was taught to love the skin I’m in and the range of it. The tangerine, violet and deep blue tints. I was taught to love my hair from the oil running down my back, to the grease I left on the school bus window, to the tight braids that left my scalp screaming, to the naps that my white friend didn’t have, to the nights my mom was combing my shit and it felt like I was having a heart attack. You see I simply love my people, even though others make us out to be evil but really we’re just cinematic and regal. So to my brothas and sistas, I love you and your blackness…WE ARE BLACKNIFICENT…Impressively dripping in black beauty, elaborately infused with melanin, extravagantly bathed in chocolate.
