Hello! I loved your post of college life and I was just wondering, what if you don’t go to your dream college or you don’t have the money to afford a bachelor’s degree from where you want, are the prospects better when you apply for your masters? and also, is a degree really worth all the trouble? I mean I love studying and all but sometimes seeing I don’t perform as well as I wish it gets me down, any tip?

Hi! Thanks! 🙂 I hope it helped some. 🙂 That first part is difficult for me in particular, because I didn’t worry about where I went too much. It was one of those things that just happened because it was… Read moreHello! So I’m starting college applications early, which gives me all the more time to completely freak out about everything. Anyways, I run a pretty successful writing blog (I think) and I wanted to put it on the application since it’s really important to me. Do you think I should include my URL? Because there are some expletives used in my writing (for a purpose, nothing is thrown in just for the heck of it) and I’m afraid that might hurt my chances. What’s your opinion on this?

The good thing about starting early is that you can take your time and make sure you do everything how you want it to! Use that as a comforting thing, not a stressful thing. Hello! I was wondering if you could answer some of my questions about the college experience to help me with my series. I feel asking about someone’s actual experience is a better, more personalized source, so thank you for taking the time to help me! (This most likely will be divided into two parts due to length.) Feel free to ignore any question you feel is too personal. I’ll understand! What are some difficulties a college freshman may face, and how would one overcome these difficulties?… (1)

What parts were you nervous about?… Read moreHello! I was wondering if you could answer some of my questions about the college experience to help me with my series. So I’m writing a book that draws from my own experiences, and as that’s the case, is it okay to use myself as a baseline for the protagonist, as long as I develop her into something uniquely her own? I don’t like the idea of a character being so similar to me, but I’m hoping she’ll be her own person eventually.

I heavily advise developing her into her own character before you start writing. Because no matter how reasonable you think she is, if someone doesn’t like her, it becomes a personal affront. One of my former professors, Dr. David Jack… Read moreSo I’m writing a book that draws from my own experiences, and as that’s the case, is it okay to use myself as a baseline for the protagonist, as long as I develop her into something uniquely her own? Oh, I probably should’ve given you some more context there. The 14 year old and the 16 year old meet over the summer and have time to bond without being interrupted by busy class schedules. The girls don’t live in the same state, though. But the book is set to end with the 16 year old writing a letter to the 14 year old saying that she’s moving to the 14 year old’s state/enrolling in the same high school as her. So if I decide to write a book to follow up this one, that’ll be the focus. Thanks!

Oh, cool! Thanks for letting me know! That sounds like an interesting premise! There’s lots to do over the summer, so that makes sense. 🙂 Great ideas!
