Hello! If I was to write a story with original characters and plot, but set in, say, the Star Wars Universe, could this be considered fanfiction? Thank you!!

heywriters: It’s always fanfiction if you’re using fictional aspects of a copyrighted work as part of your story. If you’re ever not sure, think, “Would I get sued if I tried to sell this?” and if the answer is yes,… Read moreHello! I’ve noticed lately that so many villains tend to be bad only because they’ve been wronged, so they get to wrong everyone else, or they want revenge. In general a lot of villains seem so petty and I can’t take most of them seriously. What are some characteristics of actual evil, so I don’t wind up in the habit of writing petty, whiny baddies?

fixyourwritinghabits: First, evil can take many forms and can vary significantly between people, cultures, and time periods so you’re going to have to dial that in on your own based on your story. I’m trying to write a romantic relationship, but the girl has anxiety problems and is REALLY shy, and it just seems forced. Any advice?

I’m a senior in college. I mentioned to my mom about getting a credit card, to build my credit, and she said my credit is being built just through my student loans cause I pay some of them off every month. Is this true, or should I still get a credit card?

How do I write naturally on the point of view of someone of the opposite sex? I feel like many times things don’t seem so natural. I’m writing in a man’s point of view and I’m afraid I’m making him too emotional/sensitive (like I am lol).

justawritingaid: Read more books featuring that point of view. And fortunately for you, they aren’t very hard to find. Seriously, that’s the best way to learn to write about something like a general POV that common– read it. I say… Read moreHow do I write naturally on the point of view of someone of the opposite sex? Hello there! I was just wondering if you have any specific advice for younger writers around the age of 13-16? Just anything you can think of, like books to read, things to practice, prompts to write, tips to keep in mind etc. Thank you for taking the time to run this blog! It’s been super helpful! Please take your time with this ask :)

I have three main PoV characters, and what I was thinking of doing is to have one of them be in first person while the other two are in third person, so as to sort of hint that these two characters die at the end. Would this be a good idea, or should I just try something else?

justawritingaid: I think it has merit; I’ll just give you a run-down of how narrative POV typically works and you can apply it to your story, plus a few other things to keep in mind.
